An exhibition by Royal Crown Derby to commemorate the 100th anniversary
of the launch of the Titanic in 1911.
RMS Titanic is perhaps the most famous ship ever built. It is certainly the most famous ship ever to sink. It was built as a national showcase and was equipped with the very best of British engineering, craftsmanship and design. Royal Crown Derby were chosen to provide the china for the 1st class a'la carte restaurant.
2011 sees the 100th anniversary of the launch of this ship and Royal Crown Derby are commemorating this event by reproducing the china pattern originally ordered in 1911 and holding an exhibition of the history of Titanic at the world famous Royal Crown Derby Visitor Centre.
Royal Crown Derby in association with White Star Memories, Europe's leading Titanic specialist will be exhibiting hundreds of incredible artifacts from the Titanic and her sister ship the Olympic, sympathetically displayed in settings such as boarding scenes, a 1st class cabin and of course the a la carte restaurant with original china,
silverware, crystal and furniture. The exhibition will feature the Royal Crown Derby Titanic archive featuring correspondence with the ships Chandlers Stonier & Co of Liverpool, the original pattern and advertising booklet, which have never before been displayed in public.
In addition the exhibition will feature original costumes worn in James Camerons blockbuster movie, TITANIC by Kate Winslett, Leondardo DiCaprio and Billy Zane, as well genuine White Star uniforms and period clothing. View incredibly rare and unique documentation, letters and postcards from TITANIC herself and much, much more.
Also available is a guided tour of the Royal Crown Derby factory, to see where the original Titanic china was made, as it was 100 years ago. (pre-booking essential)
